– Public facilities unveiled to improve the function of urban open space –

There is something new at National Monument (Monas) Jakarta, Indonesia. Coca-Cola Indonesia through the INDONESIA SeGar movement continue its commitment in inspiring a positive lifestyle. After actively initiating various public movements and improving the function of public spaces by unveiling a variety of outdoor gym facilities in city parks, now the INDONESIA SeGar Movement is here in MONAS, a national parks that has become the icon of Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

Through a strategic collaboration with the Jakarta City Government and Dharma Bakti Mahaka Foundation, Coca-Cola Indonesia through the Indonesia SeGar Movement has repaired six sports facilities in the MONAS area. The six facilities are 4 futsal pitches, 1 volleyball court and 1 basketball court. All these facilities were constructed with a high quality field standard, using materials that are designed specifically for outdoor courts. To support their functions, all the facilities are equipped with LED lighting devices which also adds comfort and provide freshness to MONAS park, especially at night.

Triyono Prijosoesilo, Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Coca-Cola Indonesia said: “Having helped to increase the number of facilities in 19 City Parks in Jakarta and Bandung over the last 2 years, we are proud to expand the INDONESIA SeGar Movement to one of the important icons in the country, which is MONAS. The National Monument is also an icon of a nation and therefore has a strategic function in being more than just a city park.”

The repair process on the courts started in early 2016. Beginning with the survey process and discussions on requirements with the government of DKI Jakarta, the INDONESIA SeGar team tried to improve the quality of the outdoor sports courts, including the use of the SigmaTurf Rubber Cushion System process, a multi-layered cushion system with a rubber material that is applied to the surface of the concrete, which is not only visually appealing, but also provide extra comfort to its users as well as good durability against the weather.

Mario Lawalata, a celebrity and also a member of Celebrity Happyballers is also present to give the new basketball court a spin. “It was difficult for us as citizens of Jakarta to find a good quality basketball court. No we can play basketball at a really good court, and to make it even better we are playing the game just below the National Monument. This is truly an amazing experience. Kudos!”

The courts are free to use and open to the public following current MONAS operating hours.

The INDONESIA SeGar Movement was first launched in 2013 as a collaborative movement between the private sector-government-communities which aim to inspire a positive lifestyle. In addition to transforming public spaces into positive spaces, INDONESIA SeGar also targets the educational community (schools) and youth community through a variety of exciting programs, such as the Brrrgerak30 campaign, Active School program, and Active Park program.

“We look forward to continue supporting the Government’s efforts in creating a comfortable city for its citizens; developing and improving public facilities. These new facilities at MONAS will not only inspire a more positive lifestyle for the community, especially those living in Jakarta, but can also slight increase our pride as a nation with a more complete and beautiful National Monument Park,” added Triyono.
